The Sony BRAVIA DAV-HDX265 is an inexpensive home theater system that’s ideal for people who want surround sound without spending the hefty price tag that is associated with home theater systems. Is this the system that budget minded sound lovers are looking for? Let me tell you that the Sony BRAVIA DAV-HDX265 Home Theater System is one of the best at its price range and may be the solution depending on your requirements.

First off, let me tell you that features are limited so what you desire from more expensive home theater systems may not be available on the Sony BRAVIA DAV-HDX265. There are no digital audio inputs and only one set of analog audio input. You will not be able to use this for a Blu-Ray player. If you want to listen from your iPod and then from something else, you’ll have to go unplug the iPod first. Ghetto yes, but you get what you paid for.

Second, the 5-disc DVD/CD changer is slow. If you’re looking for a home theater system that keeps music playing non-stop, this is not the one. Changing from one disc to the next can take quite a few seconds. You almost need the patience of a fisherman, but if that’s what you are then please discard this paragraph.

Now that you read about why the Sony BRAVIA DAV-HDX265 home theater system is inexpensive, let me tell you about the sound quality. The sound quality does not reflect the price. If Sony priced this home theater system based on the sound quality, it would cost more. The sound is amazing for the value. It is perfect for a small living room or a bedroom. It thunders, it has bass, and it sounds expensive.

The video quality is also excellent on the 5-disc DVD changer because it upscales your DVD movies from 480p to 1080i. This is great for those who own an HDTV. If you don’t have an HDTV, you can still enjoy the excellent home theater sound since that’s what you’re buying it for anyways. But for those with an HDTV, the upscaling is great bonus.

Setup with the Sony BRAVIA DAV-HDX265 home theater system is fairly easy since the speakers are color coded and labeled. The calibration tool is also simple with the built in microphone. You just bring the microphone to where you want the speakers to target and that point will be where you’ll receive the best surround sound. Watching cable works by plugging the audio-out into the cable box. You will also need to set the TV’s audio to off in the settings to get the Sony BRAVIA DAV-HDX265’s speakers working.

The Sony BRAVIA DAV-HDX265 home theater system is perfect if you are content with the upscaling 5-disc changer and want great home theater sound at a very affordable price. It is just a simple system with great sound and if that’s all you really need and have no plans to upgrade to a Blu-Ray player for where you are placing this, then this may be your home theater system.
